Weight gain and behavioral patterns during college may contribute to overweight and obesity in adulthood. The aims of this study were to assess weight, exercise, and dietary patterns of 764 college students (53% women, 47% men) during freshman and sophomore years. Students had their weight and height measured and completed questionnaires about their recent exercise and dietary patterns.

6. Healthy Weight Gain during Pregnancy
It is important to eat well during pregnancy. Keeping track of your weight during pregnancy is also important for your’s and your baby’s health. Women who do not gain enough weight have a risk of preterm birth. Women who are overweight or gain too much weight during pregnancy have a higher risk of: • High blood pressure • Gestational diabetes (diabetes during pregnancy) • A large baby • Caesarean sections • Birth defects • Difficultly losing weight after your baby is born. 8. Preventing Weight Gain
Not everybody on these medications will experience weight gain. But it is important to watch out for any increase in weight so that it can be dealt with right away if it does occur. A signifi cant increase in weight is associated with other medical problems such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. This cluster of symptoms is referred to as “metabolic syndrome”.

9. Treatment of Antipsychotic Induced Weight Gain
Nearly all antipsychotics can induce weight gain, which in turn lowers self-esteem and causes increased morbidity and mortality. People with schizophrenia are at increased risk of morbidity and mortality, mainly from cardiovascular disease, compared with the general population. Additionally patients with mental illness tend to have a higher body mass index (BMI) than the general population. Obesity is one of the major risk factors for cardiovascular disease. 10. Strength Training for Muscle Building
Strength training is an essential component of exercise programs for increasing muscular strength and size. Other terms that are used to refer to the use of weights or some form of resistance in order to increase muscle strength and size are “resistance training” and “weight training”. Strength training increases muscular strength, muscular endurance and muscle size. The increase in muscle size, which is due to an increase in amount of contractile proteins in the muscle fibers, is termed “muscle hypertrophy”
