All it does is take the dust from the floor and blow it straight into my eyes from the side vents in the unit. Its more of a torture to use it. It’s a pain to clean out because all the debris that did manage to stay in the thing gets stuck to the foam piece in the dust bucket. Honestly a broom and pan is easier and less painful.
Having owned a B&D DustBuster in college, I decided to purchase a Wet/Dry model after leaving my trusty handheld vac to my former roommate.
Everyone has different needs, my goals for the DustBuster were fairly simple: pick up dust/dirt after sweeping up and light vacuuming. I do not have pets, but live in a city, where dust can accumulate even after daily cleaning and swiffing.
I thought that this device would do they job – how wrong I was!
* has a foam insert to filter dirt: rather than an easy dump-the-dirt-into-the-waste action, the dirt/dust gets stuck to the foam insert. As a result, you have to wear gloves or use your hands to try and shake the dust out of the foam insert.
* side vents let blow dust and air out of the device: side vents from the device allow dust to blow out of the device. If you position the DustBuster at a certain angle (which you will be, of course, b/c you are vacuuming dirt) the wind blows so hard, it looks like you’re drying your hair.
I was looking forward to the Wet/Dry feature to help clean after cooking in the kitchen (e.g. when you peel a carrot and some bits fall into the ground), but it’s so cumbersome. I wish I could get a refund, but this is just a waste of space in my tiny NYC apt – I’ll probably donate it to charity.
This device works fine for vacuuming hair off the ground, but dust just exits out of the side vents. Also, the amount of air blowing out of the device just blows dirt around. I have heard good thing about Dyson and will prob. go with one next even if it is corded.
I bought it to clean up cat litter around my cats’ box. It does the job intended, and does it well. I haven’t tried using it on anything wet yet. The only qualm I have with it is that it stores what you’ve vacuumed up in the sides of the actual part that sucks up, so if you tilt it wrong or lift it up it all falls out.
