Kawah Putih (White Crater) is one of the most beautiful place to visit near Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Last week I went to Kawah Putih with my girl friend.
Among them are Kawah Putih and Situ Patengan (people often call Situ). Because the distance is quite far from Bandung city, about 2 hours, is recommended if you want to visit this beautiful places in South Bandung, it is better to both of places at once, so your trip more efficient.
The story of Kawah Putih (White Crater)
Patuha Ciwidey residents regarded as the oldest mountains. However Patuha supposedly derived from the Old Man (elders), so that local residents are often call it as Mount Sepuh. More than a century ago, the peak of Mount Patuha be haunted by the local residents so that no one dared to step on it. Therefore, the existence and beauty at that time did not get to know people.

On the basis of some description, Patuha had erupted in the X century, causing a crater that drain the western part of the next peak. Then in the twelfth century on his left craters broke out anyway, which then forms a beautiful lake. 1837, a German-Dutch named Dr. Junghuhn Franz Wilhelm (1809-1864) traveled to South Bandung area. When his arrived in the region, Junghuhn feel the atmosphere is very quiet and deserted, non an animals that crosses the area. He then asked this curiosity to the local residents, and according to the resident, region Patuha very eerie because it is dwelling place of spirits of the ancestors and is the center of the kingdom of the jinn.
Therefore if there is an impudent birds dare fly over the region, will fall and die. Nevertheless, the Dutch one is not quite believe the words of the resident. He then continued his journey penetrate in the mountain wilderness to prove the occurrence of what is actually happening in the region. But before reaching the top of mountain, Junghuhn stunned watching the natural charm that is so beautiful in front of him, where lay a fairly large lake with greenish white epidermis. From the lake of lava bursts out and the smell of sulfur that pierced nose. And answered already why the birds would not fly across the region.

From this beginning the establishment of plant sulfur White crater in Dutch as: Zwavel Ontgining White crater. In era of Japan, business is continued by using the plant as Kawah Putih Kenzanka Ciwidey Yokoya, and directly under military supervision. The story and the mystery of the Kawah Putih continues to grow from one generation to the next generation of society. Until now they still believe that the crater is a gathering place White spirits of the ancestors. Even according to the present Kuncen Abah Karna about 105 years old and resides in Kampung Pasir Hoe, Village Sugih Mukti; in Kawah Putih there are the graves of ancestors, among them: Eyang (Grandfather) Keep Satru, Eyang Rangsa Sadana, Eyang Head,Eyang Ngabai, Eyang Barabak , Eyang and Eyang Jambrong basin. One of the summit of Mount Patuha, Peak Kapok, believed to be the meeting place of the ancestors, led by Eyang Keep Satru. In this beautiful place people occasionally see (mysteriously) a set of white fluffy sheep (sheep lukutan) which is believed to be the embodiment of the ancestors.
Natural scenery is quite beautiful around the crater White; with lake water greenish white, in stark contrast with the white limestone which surrounds the lake. To the north of the lake stand tall gray limestone cliffs overgrown with moss and other plants. Franz Wilhelm Jaughuhn now long dead but his invention known as the Kawah Putih remained graceful until today.

From there Kawah Putih (White Crater), we can continue our journey to Situ Patengan. This tourist park is more crowded than Kawah Putih, probably due to the existing more facilities. This spacious park 17 ha, 48 ha while the vast lake. In the middle of the lake there is a small island called the island of Asmara (Amour/Love), due to a heart-shaped.
Situ Patengan, derived from the Sundanese language, “Pateangan-teangan” which means to find each other. It is said that there used to be a pair of lovebirds and goddess Ki Santang Rengganis who love each other. They parted for so long, and each search. Finally they met at a place called Batu Cinta (Stone of Love). Goddess Rengganis also asked for the lake and a boat to sail together. The boat is what until then had been a heart-shaped island (island Asmara/island Sasaka).
Stone Love Island Asmara reportedly, for couples that walk through around the island and stop at the stone Asmara Love will find eternal love like a couple. Without wasting a chance, we also hire a boat and circled the island and drop into the stone of Love.
